Medical Services
Providenciales has excellent medical facilities. The hospital is located near downtown and there are also plenty of private medical facilities.
Associated Medical Services is the oldest established private medical facility with British & Canadian trained doctors with an emergency room as well as Gynecologist, Optometrist, Chiropractor and a Dentist.
The most common travel ailments include sunburn, dehydration and traveller’s tummy. You should use sunscreen when you are outdoors. Even as little as 15 minutes in the sun can become a painful experience. Also, the double whammy of tradewinds and hot sun will ‘dry you out’ quickly and deplete your body of necessary salts. Sports drinks with electrolytes are much better rehydration drinks than plain water.
We hope you don’t have an emergency while you are here, but if you do the clinics and the hospital are capable of stabilizing most conditions and transferring the patient by air-ambulance jet to a hospital in Florida if they cannot cope with the emergency. Private doctors will make house calls and hotel calls if requested, even in the night, for serious cases or pain cases. Patents are charged accordingly.
Visitors would be well advised to check that their Insurance covers them for repatriation costs before they arrive.
